Garlic-Sautéed Swiss Chard
In the last Hoosier Harvest 365 Bag, Swiss Chard was included. Personally, I've never made Swiss Chard so this was a new adventure to me (and my family). So I started the conquest of looking for a recipe that sounded good and was kid friendly. I have a 9 & 8 year old so this can be a challenge sometimes! On Pinterest, I found Sautéed Chard with Bacon and Tomatoes recipe that sounded fairly simple and good! This recipe came from The Sophisticated Caveman on Pinterest. I altered the recipe a little by adding more bacon. Who doesn't love more bacon, right?!
Sautéed Chard with Bacon and Tomatoes
Ingredients
1 bunch rainbow chard leaves and stems separated and chopped
3 strips bacon, chopped
1 cup cherry tomatoes halved
1/2 onion diced
1 garlic clove minced
one pinch sea salt
black pepper to taste
Instructions
Place the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat.
Cook until the fat has rendered and the bacon is crisp. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
Increase the heat to medium high and add the onion and chopped chard stalks to the skillet. Cook until translucent, 6-7 minutes.
Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
Toss in the cherry tomatoes and sauté until blistered.
Finally add the chard leaves, a pinch of salt, and black pepper to taste. Cook until the leaves are wilted and tender, about 5 minutes.
Garnish with the bacon.
We added an egg and strawberries with this & that was our meal. DELICIOUS!!! Next time order the CHARD, BACON, EGG, and STRAWBERRIES from Hoosier Harvest Market and you have an easy meal and healthy meal.
